Yahoo app password generation

Thunderbird has been working with Yahoo mail for a long time! Not any longer, my app password failed over the weekend. I contacted Yahoo support because when you try to generate a new Password, on screen message says this feature is currently not available. Yahoo support tell me that yahoo will no longer allow 3rd party emails.

Nice of Yahoo to tell users, I have seen/heard nothing.

Chosen solution

Change the authentication method for your Yahoo Account to OAuth2 in Thunderbird Account Settings. With OAuth2 authentication use your Yahoo account password, no app password is needed. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/thunderbird-and-yahoo
