cant send emails through thunderbird

Sorry I may have asked this before but can't find the thread. I have never had any issues with Thunderbird over past few years. I do not recall doing any updates but about a month ago I am no longer able to send emails. I have checked with Optus and can send emails directly from my webmail with no problem. I have checked all the settings to the best of my ability, and they all appear to be correct. Any thoughts?
