Team,

I recently purchased a new PC. on the new pc. On the old PC I turned disabled sync server on connection and added the 3 new email accounts as IMAP. One account folder by folder i drag and dropped from the Pop Account to the IMAP account. However on many of the IMAP accounts the folder structure was changed and sub-folders. I also received some errors during the drag and drop about not being able to complete the request or corrupted. Now I have some folder missing in both the POP and IMAP folders. Is there and way to repair the local POP profiles and see if anything got deleted or hidden due to a potentially corrupted .eml.

Really struggling here so an help is greatly appreciated.

I am really struggling to even comprehend what you are doing.

POP account are account that receive mail. SMTP servers are used for the sole purpose of sending mail. Each identity (account usually) has an assigned SMTP server that is used to send mail for that account.

So please, what are you doing? Dragging what from where to where?

Matt I revised the question I am sorry for the confusion. I basically have 2 accounts on the Laptop one is POP and 1 is IMAP, as I drag folders from the POP to IMAP account many came across some are lost. Are the missing still in the POP profile but maybe corrupted so i cant see them? How can i find then?

1. Dragging folder on IMAP is entirely prone to errors. 2 Dragging mails in batches more than about 100 is also prone to errors. Silent server communications time out or the server decides you have used your allotted bandwidth and then future changes are just simply lost. This is an area that is fraught with the inability of Thunderbird to cope well with batch moves without loosing the plot.

The folder names used in an IMAP account are set by the mail server. You don't get a say. so you can't change them to what you think they should be or at times even place them where you think they should be.

I suggest you update to the very latest release. Currently 102.3.1 as fixes for compact have been coming out since V102 released. Use the File menu > compact option to force a reexamination of the server side folders of your imap accounts and an examination of the integrity of local mail folders.

Note that Thunderbird does not use EML files internally MBOX are used to store mail. So a corrupt EML is most unlikely.
