Some webpages cause the browser to automatically reload them at periodic intervals. Sometimes these intervals are too short and in the middle of reading the webpage it gets reloaded.

How do I prevent Firefox from accepting a reload command from the webpage I am currently browsing?

I did not see an answer to this in the FAQ.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and answering if you choose to do so.

Hi, incoming

Maybe you can try to disable auto refresh at about:config to stop the webpage from refreshing automatically.

Step 1: Enter about:config in the address bar Step 2: It will then show a confirmation, so just click on "Accept the Risk and Continue" Step 3: Then either search for "accessibility.blockautorefresh" or find it by clicking on the Show All Step 4: Click on the toggle button to make it true and it should stop webpage from refreshing automatically

Another method that could be used is installing addons.

Hope this helps!

If you change that preference as suggested, you will have to give explicit approval to every redirect.

Note that toggling a pref like "accessibility.blockautorefresh" isn't recommended as this can cause issues with websites that use use one or more location redirects and this pref only works for a new ways of refreshing automatically and not if the refresh is done via JavaScript like happens in a lot of cases.

Note that this is an accessibility feature, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a way to stop redirecting.
