Unable to install Net Gear router to initiate internet connection for my Mac Book Air.
I attempted to install a router but Mozilla sent a caution message that the brand (Net Gear) was insecure. Which brands are secure routers?>I have a Mac Book Air purchased a few months ago and have never had internet at home. This is first attempt. Thanks.

This is likely because you can't use a secure https:// connection but only an insecure http:// connection (i.e. the router doesn't have a certificate installed).

I am using a NetGear router. The only issue is that I have to use its IP address to configure it from my computer. The router's IP address is the same as the IPv4 IP address which you can get from your network manager; you have to add http:// at the front.

Are you trying to use say http://routerlogin.net (use http:// and not https://) and not the router default IP address which is usually say 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.
Also you should make a new username/password to login to be secure and not what could be a default username Admin. and password for password
