Not able to download file
Hello,
I recently switched from Firefox ESR 78.15.0 to Firefox ESR 91.6.0 on a PC with Win7 and now when I go here https://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full I don't get to save to disk the exe file while I instead get an error window from Firefox which says: Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at get.skype.com. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to lad any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web. Try again
Firefox ESR 91.6.0 is working OK in all the other situations in which I have used it so far and Firefox ESR 78.15.0 never had this issue.
The more: on the same Win7 PC, but from a virtual machine with WinXP with Firefox ESR 52.9.0, when I follow the same above Skype link I get to save the exe file as usual.
Are there any suggestions on how I could try to fix this in Firefox ESR 91.6.0?
Thank you

I found out the cause of my problem. The Windows hosts file was blocking the download of Skype (I set it that way and I was OK with the fact that Firefox ESR 78.15.0 was not affected by this). As soon as I removed that block, Firefox ESR 91.6.0 was able to download the exe file from https://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full without problems. But now I have another question.
Firefox ESR 78.15.0 ignores the content of the hosts file, while Firefox ESR 91.6.0 is not ignoring the content of the hosts file.
Is there a way to set Firefox ESR 91.6.0 to ignore the content of the hosts file like Firefox ESR 78.15.0 does?
I found network.trr.exclude-etc-hosts set to true in Firefox ESR 91.6.0 and when I switched it to false, the content of the hosts file was ignored and I could reach the exe file I wanted to reach like I was doing in Firefox ESR 78.15.0.
So this apparently solves my issue but I have another question. Are there drawbacks of any sort (privacy, security, functionality, etc.) in using DoH (DNS over HTTPS) and also having network.trr.exclude-etc-hosts set to false in Firefox ESR 91.6.0?

Why do you have those domains in your hosts file as you appear to experience issues with blocked domains ?
Some entries I like to specifically have in the hosts file so that the OS and other programs take care of them but without Firefox caring about those entries (exactly like it happened with Firefox ESR 78.15.0). The network.trr.exclude-etc-hosts setting allows me to have this situation also in Firefox ESR 91.6.0 but now I was just curious if there are drawbacks of any sort (privacy, security, functionality, etc.) in using DoH (which I have active) and also having network.trr.exclude-etc-hosts set to false in Firefox ESR 91.6.0.
