Embedded images do not appear in Thunderbird emails

I am running Thunderbird 91.5.1 on Windows 10. Today images stopped appearing in my emails without me changing any settings. I have "Allow remote content in messages" checked. Is this a bug in the latest release? How can I fix it?

The problem turned out to be quite simple. Somehow the setting View/Message Body As got changed from Original HTML to Simple HTML. Changing it back restored all my images.

Note that I have a laptop running Thunderbird 91.5.0, and I don't have this problem.

Also note that I think this problem started about the same time I installed the latest Windows 10 update. If that's the problem, what setting might have Windows changed and how would I correct it?

Historically a number of anti virus programs have blocked remote images. I would suggest a cold restart of your device before you try anything else.
