I just turned off AdBlock Plus in the Add-Ons screen and downloaded ublock origin to try it out. There is no icon for this new plug in to be found anywhere. I can manually go in and change the settings on this plugin in the add-ons screen but there is no icon anywhere to go in quicker or to show a report of how many items were blocked. When I try to Customize my toolbars, the icon is not available there either. The nearest threads I can find on this topic are from 2018 and their solutions are very basic use. Yes, of course I restarted the browser. TIA.

Chosen solution

I was able to get steered the right direction on Reddit. Thanks folks for the replies. Apparently the overflow menu >> there are several icons hiding there. When I right click them I have a couple of options, "Pin to Overflow Menu" and "Remove from toolbar". I like the first option because to find the icon, I had to open the overflow menu, LOL. So I pinned it to the overflow menu, went to customize toolbar, grabbed it from the overflow menu and pasted it where it needs to go. I suspect if I tried the second option, remove from toolbar, that I would have gone into the customize screen and the icon would have been sitting in the sandbox for me to grab and place.

You can try "Clear the startup cache..." via the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.

Forgot to mention I had tried that before I posted. Thanks though.

I assume you are not using private mode (same as never remember history). You should see an icon. Have you tried removing the add-on then reinstalling it, perhaps restarting the browser in between?

It’s possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder

Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.

Delete all extensions* files and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

After, restart Firefox.

See "Corrupt extension files"

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You may have to approve the updating once again.
