Lost Bookmarks
Hi,
I'm using Waterfox and since the last upgrade, I've lost all my bookmarks. I've tried what I can find in help and so far, I've not managed to find anything that will bring them back.
I'd appreciate some help and advice please - I had hundreds of bookmarks and to lose them all is something of a nuisance to put it politely!
Thanks in advance, for any help and suggestions given.
Regards,
Mark

What about the rest of your profile? Settings, bookmarks, history, passwords . . . .
Waterfox is a bit different from Firefox. Try these out;
Sometimes when the browser thinks there is a problem with the profile, it will create a new one.
Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar.
How many profiles are listed?
How many should be there?
Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.

Restore Bookmark Backups
Firefox automatically makes backups of the bookmarks. These are stored in the bookmarkbackups folder.
Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B. Firefox 84+ <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> O.
Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Restore. From the list, pick the file you want and click it.
The backups are stored in a jsonlz4 file named something like this; bookmarks-2016-06-29_1424_enD1GTH ya0JmicnYWg4V4g==.jsonlz4
In this example; 2016-06-29 = date created, 1424 = number of entries.

Hi Fred,
Thanks for getting in touch. I'd tried what you said, before I got on the forum. I couldn't find anything. I've found the backup files as well, but there's nothing dated after May this year, so I've no idea what's going on there. So I'm still stuck basically, it would seem.....

Mark
Recover what you can from the backups. At least you will have something.
