If you are indeed using the old End of Life EOL Windows Vista then that is the issue.

Firefox 52.9.0 ESR was the last to still support the old EOL Windows Vista and XP.

Firefox 52.0 and later Releases has required Windows 7, 8 (8.1), 10 to run since.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/end-support-windows-xp-and-vista

It appears you may already be using Firefox 52.9.0esr however: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/ and pick a locale say en-US or en-GB https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/en-US/ https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/en-GB/

Windows 7 is EOL and Windows 8.1 extended Support ends on January 10, 2023 so you better off with Windows 10. The other option in order to use current Firefox releases and have a secure OS is to perhaps dual boot with a light Linux distro.
