Whose idea was it to put a red warning sign on the mail icon on the task bar for ‘Thunderbird? Red normally means some sort of problem, a danger or an exception. It is very distracting.

Chosen solution

Not only that, it's stupid, because it doesn't even work properly.

Mine showed a red "7", meaning I had 7 new emails waiting for me. Problem is, I just downloaded those 7 emails. Once I did that, the "7" stayed.

So, I retrieved my messages again, and there was only one downloaded. Guess what? Now there's a "1" sitting on top of the TBird icon in my taskbar - representing the email I already downloaded.

I also simply love how this new "feature" (bug) is not described anywhere in the release notes. Does this mean someone snuck it in without going past QA/QC? Obviously, since it is a total POS.

And of course, like any other idiotic move by TBird, there is no way to turn it off. Well done, idiots - you've screwed the pooch again!! I've learned to expect nothing less from you.

Who knows which version I need to downgrade to in order to get rid of this stupid feature/bug?
