Firefox page is "grayed out" for anything and everything I try to visit. Nothing changes except a blank screen.

Whenever I open firefox I am left with a grayed out screen with no other information given. Any time I click bookmark within that tab, nothing happens. If I open a new tab with a link, I get the name of the website on the tab and a grayed out screen. Everything else on my computer works fine with the internet (including microsoft edge that I am using now). I only started experiencing this issue after installing avast cleanup and premium security, but I can't find anything that is "blocking" firefox or its access to the internet. I don't know what else to do, I've had a similar issue occur before where I've been using Avast's cleaning service and selected Firefox's browser cache or downloads or something, and I don't recall how I fixed it. I can only assume it has something to do the antivirus that I installed, but I don't know what to do to fix firefox, lest I just uninstall the antivirus. Please Help?

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select Network.

[56+] Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar. Look for Network. +++++++++++++++++++++ Look for Configure How Firefox Connects and press the Settings button. If you are using a proxy, make sure those settings are correct. If there is no proxy, first try No Proxy. If there is a problem, then try System Proxy.
