What is the incoming server, pop.verizon.net or imap.aol.com, and if it's the latter, what is the authentication method?

I'm having the same problem. On the same date 7/12 access stopped for my verizon email account through Thunderbird and my iPhone. In Thunderbird I used both the pop.verizon.net and imap.aol.com servers without problems for years. I can still access my verizon emails by going to mail.aol.com so I know it's not a user name or password problem.

I've deleted my verizon iPhone account and tried to manually reestablish an IMAP connection using the AOL recommended settings (imap.aol.com, 993, SSL) without success.

I had success using the AOL application to automatically establish the parameters. (Server: imap.aol.com, Authentication:OAuth 2.0 Token, IMAP Path Prefix /, Server Port 993)

What do "Token" and "Path Prefix" mean?? I've not seen this nomenclature before.

For AOL accounts, imap.aol.com on 993, SSL/TLS, OAuth2, does work, so if a Verizon account uses the same server, but with normal password authentication, change it to OAuth2, remove the password in Saved Passwords in Options, restart TB, enter the account password in the OAuth window, and an oauth:// token will be stored in Saved Passwords. Accept cookies in TB Options/Privacy & Security for OAuth authentication.

'Path Prefix' is probably the same as IMAP Server Directory in TB Server Settings/Advanced, and should be left blank.

Thanks! That solved the problem. Especially important is "Accept cookies in TB Options/Privacy & Security for OAuth authentication".

What's frustrating is that the setting that worked on 7/11 didn't work on 7/12 due to some change at AOL. And the change was done without warning.
