I just used pacman to update to the latest Firefox, but the tab crashed each time I open a new web page ( I can open settings, about:xxx and etc... ). I tried Troubleshoot Firefox crashes and it did not crash in troubleshoot mode. Then I tried extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems but non of these options solved the problem. I disabled all extensions, themes and hardware acceleration, and it reported the same error.

Chosen solution

This bug has already been fixed: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1664151 Temporary workaround is to set `gfx.e10s.font-list.shared` to false.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

I thought reinstall solved the problem, but it did not. I can open youtube but I cannot watch a youtube video even in the safe mode with firefox esr.

Then I used package manager to reinstalled the firefox 89.0, and it still crashed in all web pages in normal mode, but I can watch youtube in safe mode with firefox 89.0.

I have tried to remove profiles and extensions but it did not solved the problem. (I removed ~/.mozilla/)

anyway I downgrade to Firefox 88.0.1-1 and it works perfectly fine right now. I'll still mark this problem Unsolved. There is no reason to stay in a non-lts version forever. If there is any new way to solve this problem please reply this post. Thanks.

I am using Arch+Xorg+Plasma with FF 89

I am also on Arch. Previously I thought this problem was due to Wayland, but since it also happens on Xorg this is probably Linux specific.
