Sorry if this has been posted/raised already but I couldn't find anything relevant when searching so posting it here. This fingerprinting method seems to work really well across different browsers including Firefox.

Is there a way to prevent this in Firefox at the moment.

Thanks, I'm guessing this has already been checked out by the Devs but posting in case others are interested. FingerprintingJS blog discusses external protocol flooding and how it's implemented across different browsers, the blog also has a link to source code on GitHub.
