My ISP is @tampabay.rr.com. When I attempt to set up Thunderbird manually (because the auto detect populates different information for the ISP other than .tampabay.rr.com) the system does not recognize the ISP name and auto detect settings. I've contacted the ISP. Their response is that it's a known Thunderbird issue.

Chosen solution

Click Manual config. in the account setup window and try these settings:

mail.brighthouse.com on 993, SSL/TLS, for the incoming IMAP, 587, STARTTLS for the outgoing SMTP; authentication = normal password, User Name = email address.

https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/spectrum-email-server-settings/

If that doesn't work, try the same settings with mail.twc.com instead of mail.brighthouse.com.

I'm trying to set up on a laptop. On both suggestions, the retest is successful and "Done" becomes available, BUT the error unable to log in at the server probably wrong ... (everything)

It didn't work earlier in the day, but I tried again and the "Done" was successful this time with mail.brighthouse.com
