About a month or so ago Thunderbird updated. After that one of my email groups of 54 addresses no longer went on separate Bcc rows but were all included in one row. That was around the time when my ip address became blacklisted by Spamhaus and MXToolbox. Now they want $100 a month in fees to ensure my emails get through because they are all being returned to me as spam now.

I want to go back to placing each of my address book contacts into SEPARATE BCC rows by using a global drag and drop, not an individual posting.

Can anyone show me how to do that as I have been unable to discover how to get back to that old way. Vic

You do not need to use WordPerfect to generate email templates.

You use 'Write' in Thunderbird and save as Template. It's so easy. for example: In Address Book' - Create an 'address book' that contains just the contacts for the dance group.

Open 'Write' Type the correct format for the relevant parts: example in TO field type: {{FirstName}} {{LastName}} <{{PrimaryEmail}}> or just : {{PrimaryEmail}} then use {{FirstName}} {{LastName}} in the content.

Type suitable Subject eg: Car pooling You can enter any content now or leave blank. Save as Template

then when you need to it, access Templates folder and double clickon the 'Car Pooling' email to open in new Write message.

complete any further content required File > Mail Merge Choose address book, send later, select actual name of address book. You can use the 'Preview' to see if all looks ok Then click on 'OK' All emails are created and put into the 'Outbox' folder located in 'Local Folders' mail account. You can check emails are good before sending, or remove any you do not want to send eg: if person A has gone on hols so do not need to send email. when you want to send right click on Outbox and select 'Send unsent messages'

see image below as guide. Image was created in an earlier version, but it should give you an idea as most is the same.

I have been unable to discover how to get back to that old way.

You can't go back.

The problem with this system is that SpamHaus flags the emails to all these email addresses in one row as SPAM.

Then they try to gt you to pay $100 to $399 A MONTH to correct the problem. all those emails are returned as spam.

It does not make any difference whether they are on separate rows or in the new format. The emails are sent in exactly the same manner. One email being Bcc'd to several email addresses. So nothing has changed except how they are displayed in your view.

The problem is that your ip address is blacklisted by Spamhaus and MXToolbox - assuming that is correct. This needs fixing. You need to find out why you got blacklisted. The following link offers some interesting information and offers more explanation about how you may have got blacklisted in the first place. But I would start by using a different IP address.

Spamhaus do not charge to remove ip addresses, so I have no idea why you think it will cost loads of money per month unless you are being conned or talking about using a different mailing service that does charge.

You could consider using an entirely different method which means you do not have to use Bcc.

Use an addon called 'Mail Merge'. This means you create one email using specific template naming so that each email can get personalised. Then although you composed one email, Mail Merge creates a completely separate email for each email address and sends using the TO field. Suggest you read up on this and check it out. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/mail-merge/

Thank you for the help. Spamhaus, MXToolBox, smtp.antispamcloud.com, and HostPapa.com appear to all be linked in a scam to block my emails to my ballroom dance group. The host company HostPapa.com tells me that MXtoolbox has a solution to the smpt.antispamcloud.com flagging my emails, and that solution costs $99 a MONTH for the lower service program and $399 a MONTH for the higher level program. In my book, that is called extortion.

We are just a group of dancers trying to organize car pooling to dances (when dances get going again that is). I have been organizing this for some years now with no problems and now HostPapa is refusing to let my emails to the group go through.

So As I see it a private company (smpt.antispamcloud.com) is hooked into a hosting company (HostPapa.com) which uses Spamhaus and MXToolBox to extort unreasonable fees from people just trying to organize car pooling to dances.

I will look at your Links to get an understanding of your suggestions and I can also use WordPerfect to generate email templates and also send serially to a list of email addresses. I will have to investigate all of these option to see which is the easiest for me.

As I see it this makes these four companies linked in a conspiracy.

Spamhaus, MXToolBox, smtp.antispamcloud.com, and HostPapa.com

All linked into a conspiracy to block legitimate people in the general public who are not making any money of the email list and just want to car pool to dances. - smpt.antispamcloud.com flags email groups - Spamhaus and MXToolBox offer a solution to the returned spam flagged emails for $99 a month of $399 a month. - HostPapa goes along with this scam because they likely are getting a cut on the extorted fees. I have no evidence for that as yet but that makes sense to me.

I like the Thunderbird Add-on called Mail Merge except my computer does not have an application that can open the download file with the .xpi extension.

What am I supposed to open that with?

more options

When I use firefox to open the add-on an error message says it cannot be installed because it has not been verified.

So, I am guessing I would need to get hHunderbird to show up in my list of applications to open this .xpi file. Does anyone know hoe I might do that on a Windows 10 computer?

more options

I have really messed things up. Firefox cannot open the Thunderbird add-on with the .xpi etension.

Thunderbird cannot open it either now because Thunderbird places the .xpi file into and attachment in an email that waits for me to send it to some email address. I don't ant to do that I just want to install the .xpi into Thunderbird.

The Mail merge Add-on is incompatible with Thunderbird so has been disabled. So I will switch to WordPerfect mail merge as a solution. Thanks for your time.
