Hi I have gmail synced to my Thunderbird. Recently, I have been sending emails after I have saved a template but for some reason, the email gets sent more than once after I have sent. Best, Tommy.

Gmail automatically put a copy of sent emails in the server 'Sent Mail' folder. If you have the setting in Thunderbird to also put a copy in the 'Sent Mail' folder then you will see two copies. The remedy is to stop Thunderbird making a copy.

  • Right click on the imap gmail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
  • Select 'Copies & folders'
  • uncheck 'Place a copy in'
  • Then restart Thunderbird.
