Suddenly Outlook has added two columns to the left hand pane.

Is it possible to get rid of them as they just clutter up the page?

I have attached a screenshot and hope it comes out.

Thank you for your help.....Anthony

8/22/21 I had this same problem. Both columns on the left can be removed by using AdBlockPlus and "blocking" that entire vertical area. I hope this helps. After I did this, the columns appeared one other time and I blocked them and it has stayed that way ever since. If you have further questions about the blocking procedure, please let me know.

hello avwood,

This forum is Mozilla and has very little to do with Microsoft products, like Outlook

You should post your question regarding Microsoft Outlook, at the Microsoft Community Forums for Microsoft Outlook.

Dear dbben,

I realise my question is concerning Microsoft.

I posted it to Firefox as I am using a Firefox browser.

Previously when I have had a question re hotmail/outlook format with Firefox, Mr Wesley Branton was so helpful and sent me the solution to my problem of suddenly very narrow scroll bars.

I was hoping he or someone else might know the answer to my current problem.

Thanks...Cheers....Anthony

Hi Anthony, the very left column with the colorful icons is the applications list. If you click the button (3 x 3 square) above the column, does that change anything?

Dear jscher2000

Clicking the 3 x3 square brings up the first column in a much more intrusive look.

I do thank you for your suggestion. Anxious to find what will work.

Thanks....Anthony

Hmm, I don't know why you have that persistent left column. Different design than I get. ??

Mine only changed yesterday. From experience Outlook don't always change everyone at the same day. Your change might still come.

If I use an old login to get the format before all the current changes, I don't get the columns at all.

The web address to the page of the old format is also attached.

Cheers

Anthony

The reason why i finally switched over to TBird is because i was getting tired of Microsoft's mismanagement of email services and its programs.

If i recall thru the cobwebs in my brain, i think they had their Internet Express. Then Live Express. And of course their Outlook, that is if the Office Program or Suite was purchased.

And then M$ didnt make it easy to export emails or have them imported into another email program.

My suggestion Avwood is to switch over to another email program if the "view" isnt exactly to your like-ing. Or maybe alter the view. For help on this you can google "how to adjust views in outlook".

Additionally, you could go to the M$ Community Forums to see if their is a hack to modify the view. And if there isnt one, then your thread citing your concern at M$ will become feedback for the company.

As for me, I have MS Office installed "only" because they made it difficult for us to use WordPerfect. But whenever I upgrade Office, I leave out Outlook.

That last address was outlook.live.com (consumer site), but I was looking at outlook.office.com (Office 365), so that could explain part of the difference.

so microsoft mixed apples and oranges by outlook.live ?

wonder why they didnt go a step further with outlook.live.hotmail.com ?

i'm glad that i avoided the headache !

I haven't changed email addresses as I have been using my hotmail for decades, even before I got a home computer so people know my address. For web use both hotmail and outlook are still free.

I have sent a request for help to the microsoft forums but no response yet. If I ever find a solution I shall post it with the current problem.

Again, I thank you for your time.
