Can not use Thunderbird since installed (and uninstalled) Chrome

Windows 10, 64bit, latest updates, latest Thunderbird. I downloaded and installed Chrome. Decided I didn't want to use it and uninstalled it within 20 minutes. Used Glary Utilities Pro to cleanse my system of various remaining pieces of Chrome after using their uninstall. Restarted my system, which starts Thunderbird at the end of opening so I can get my email from my Gmail account.

I ask it to get my email and a window opens on top from Google asking me to log into my Gmail account seemingly to use their web based access. Thunderbird hadn't been able to get my email.

Tried a search of my registry to find anything but no joy.

I am stuck. Need my Thunderbird returned the way it was before I tested that (expletives omitted) Chrome. Thank you.

When authentication was set to OAuth2 already, then you had this at least once at the time the account was set up. With OAuth2 Thunderbird does not store your Google account password, but an authentication token. That token expires every once in a while, which then triggers the authentication prompt.

Thunderbird has got nothing to do with Chrome.

Presumably what you see is the Thunderbird OAuth2 authentication window that Gmail uses to authorize access to your account. The TB 78.6 update automatically changes the authentication from 'normal password' to 'OAuth2' for those types of accounts.

Appreciate your time trying to help. This had never occurred before as I've been using the OAuth2 for sometime. It only started after I uninstalled Chrome!

Thank you for your perseverance and my octogenarian status! I entered what was asked and then I got into my emails with Thunderbird. Yea! Did I miss a warning about Google doing this? Again thank you and my apologies for failing to understand your original post!

Seems now everytime I want to use Thunderbird, I have to go through this password entry scenario. Is that googles' idea of two step verification? I don't keep Thunderbird open all of the time. I do use imap to sync with my tablet. My tablet gets notification and sometimes I answer via tablet. There are times when I have to use the groups within Thunderbird. Too bad I'm unaware of the group scenario on my tablet.
