Using Thunderbird version 78.5.1, 4 days ago this problem started. I am receiving mails into my "BTYahoo" Inbox but they are not being passed through to my T?Bird Account. Is this a known problem? How can I cure problem?

AVG also uses some type of "mail-protection" where it becomes a proxy/gateway for mail-server communications, and causes security issues & problems. mail-protection needs to be disabled inside AVG. disable 'E-mail shield' (Open AVG AntiVirus free > Menu > Components > E-mail shield). or, open your AVG Internet Security/AVG AntiVirus Free program > Click 'Web and E-mail Sheild' tile > click on toggle-bar to disable E-mail sheild temporarily to check the status.

if those do not solve, then: you may have to use "secure mail key" (SMK) code as password in TB . you have to create/generate a SMK in your BT/ISP/MSP's mail web-access site. delete saved password in TB for the mail-account that you're having problems/issues , restart TB , click on the mail-account Inbox or Sent, which you're trying to fix , enter SMK code in the "password" field/box.

Have also found this additional information to help solve problem:- 1 If I close down Thunderbird & then re open the mails come into the T?Bird Inbox 2 When I delete these mails from Thunderbird they are NOT deleted from BTYahoo

Hope this helps some experts

If you are using ESET/NOD32 security/AV then probability is high that ESET is causing your problems. According to ESET forums, you should temporarily disable SSL on ESET until they solve the problem per https://support.eset.com/en/kb3126-disable-ssl-filtering-in-eset-windows-products.

You might also inform ESET that they have broken your system. The problem is being reported by hundreds of users https://forum.eset.com/topic/26517-problems-with-thunderbird-and-imaps/ https://forum.eset.com/discover/

Thanks, but I'm not using ESET/NOD for security, I'm using AVG. This problem has only just started on Thunderbird. Also as I've stated, when I first open T/Bird mails are not there, but if I close & re open they arrive. Help !!

Erik, Many thanks, this problem is not now occurring, I think it was caused by the BT Server. But I will remember your advise Cheers!
