Thunderbird stopped fetching new emails SOLVED caused by oauth issue

Hi folks!

I have been using Thunderbird for many many years, and never had this problem before.

Today between 11am and 12pm it stopped receiving new emails. I didn't do any software installations or things like that. I only restarted my internet router, but I have done that many times before.

Now my Thunderbird only quickly pretends to check for new emails from all of my 17 email accounts, but it doesn't do that, doesn't fetch any emails either. And when I force it for a specific account I see "[my email address]: Connected to pop.gmail.com" on the status bar below. That message will stay there forever, without any emails being fetched. I checked my gmail accounts on the web and they do receive emails as usual.

No error messages or warnings of any kind.

And yes I am online, not in offline mode.

This is very frustrating because I can't go and manually check all of my 17 accounts all the time.

Thunderbird 78.5.0, Windows 10 Enterprise x64.

I found this topic (link below) by browsing around, at first I didn't think it's about a similar problem. I deleted those 3 files and now Thunderbird works again.

Are you using ESET security/AV ?

Yes I am using NOD32. I have been using this AV since 2007, and Thunderbird since 2004 or so.

According to their forums, you should temporarily disable SSL until they solve the problem per https://support.eset.com/en/kb3126-disable-ssl-filtering-in-eset-windows-products?ref=esf - the problem is being reported by dozens of users https://forum.eset.com/topic/26517-problems-with-thunderbird-and-imaps/ https://forum.eset.com/discover/

hello, can you try to disable security connexion of all your account ? i have a similar bug since yesterday on IMAP with SSL/TLS. i just select "NONE" instead of SSL/TLS or STARTTLS and for now its working. I know its not a good idea to not crypt message but thats all i can do now.

Extra informations for my case before turning off the security connexion : TB 78.4.0 (32bits) on windows 7 is not affected. But do not have Eset Nod32 Antivirus. TB 78.5.0 (32bits) on windows 10 is affected. But have Eset Nod32 Antivirus. Sending message with SMTP is half ok (sending done but the message can not be saved in the outbox, its stored localy).

Edit 11h55 i just read your reply about ESET, i will try to disable Nod32 and reactivate TLS connexion. Edit 12h13 Disable and re-enable SSL protocol filtering did not work for me, but while testing one of my account have ask me to put in the password and this account work fine with SSL/TLS activated and Nod32 activated too. my other account still do not work. i will try to delete the 3 files since they are password related. Edit 13h29. Like Stargate Max, after deleting the 3 files it works again. Solution : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1315112

If you use ESET software:

Stop Thunderbird Open ESET -> Setup-> Advanced setup -> Web and E-Mail -> SSL/TLS Disable the SSL/TLS filtering, press OK, give another OK/YES for Windows User Account Control (UAC). Enable the function. Press OK (ESET) and YES (UAC). Start Thunderbird
