https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252041994?page=2 describes imap response/timeout issues caused by Little Snitch and Avast https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1677272 describes display slowness https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1677380 describes a rare Mac address book issues Do one of these match your problem?

First one is not even related to Thunderbird. Personally for me - none of those apply. I don't have Little Snitch and for Antivirus, I disabled my Bit Defender when I started having this issue and that has not made single bit of a difference. Neither does any of the second or third issue apply - if you care to read the problem I posted, the application does not even start - so no usability issues apply. Incidentally when it does start, it works just as normal - no issues whatsoever. I cannot say for OP problem but my is at the moment solved by moving to older 7.4.3 and waiting for about 5 minutes after initial Mac startup to run Thunderbird.
