Email signatures in Thunderbird 78.4

I have used Thunderbird for many years. My Thunderbird updated to v78.4 and now I cannot find any way to add signatures to emails.

There is no help among the 1000s of threads here.

Basically I think 78.4 is a backward step.

How do I get my signature options back?

Chosen solution

Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Settings, to see the signature settings.

If the Settings window doesn't display properly, see if it works in safe mode (hold Shift when launching TB).

Thanks.

I was feeling frustrated at all the changes to the interface many I feel were unnecessary.

Hey, ho! :-)

I followed the instructions, but it seems that only allows you to select a sig file that is used as the default. I would like to be able to choose the sig BEFORE I send each message. I don't want to use a sig all the time and I like that I can change between several depending on who I am sending to.

Frankly, this is the first real disappointment I have had with Thunderbird. I prefer POP3 email and this is the best client I have used since Eudora. :-)

I hope that you can restore that functionality so that it works the same way as before. Thanks!

To manage multiple signatures, look for the Quicktext or Signature Switch add-ons.

Hello,

Same findings, same frustration.

I would really appreciate being able to choose whether to add OR NOT the predefined signature to my messages (e.g. having an option "Add signature" in "Insert" menu).

It is NOT a matter of handling several signatures. It is a matter of choosing if predefined signature is needed and add it manually, or not needed and do nothing, neither manually nor automagically. It is a matter of human being keeping control of what happens.

Thanks,

...having an option "Add signature" in "Insert" menu...

This is a 'missing' but expected feature in Thunderbird, currently on 78.5.1. Even Outlook has had this for decades. Please add this option.

I have finally bitten the bullet and migrated from Eudora (was I the last on the planet?) ... best part of the day that took. Then having searched the settings and so on several times came to the conclusion that this absolutely key feature was missing - confirmed when I found this page. It was fundamental to Eudora and in frequent use. It is a key feature because I MUST have different sigs for a range of targets - family do not need my work details, and vice versa, and only some correspondents need my street address or phone number. Some require very special id and account numbers, but many need nothing at all. Please, fix this ASAP - I am now stuck with having to cut and paste! To see above that it used to be available only makes it worse. This is definitely the 'ap'orth of tar in this case.

The reply given above mentions two add-ons for custom signature management.
