Has Firefox always used Google to search? I don't remember having to agree to Google's policies before.

Mozilla uses one engine. Then over time, makes another the default for whatever reason.

Type about:preferences#search<enter> in the address bar. You can select any search engine to be your default from here.

You can also remove any engine from here.

You can change it easily if you wish. Add or remove a search engine in Firefox Manage Firefox search settings
