I am trying to export a local folder using Import/Export NG but every time I select the destination folder and click continue Thunderbird crashes and stops responding. Any ideas?

Have you tried seeking support form that addon author? https://github.com/thundernest/import-export-tools-ng/issues

If thunderbird is crashing providing the crash id's would be very helpful. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter-tb#w_viewing-crash-reports
