Firefox update lost all passwords and bookmarks

Updated Firefox to latest version and now all passwords and bookmarks are gone!!! I read and tried a lot of different things with the profile folders and about:profiles, etc. NOTHING has worked so far. Why is it so hard to fix these things that should not have been lost just from updating. I do not use AVG or have a login.json.corrupt file.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. How many profiles are listed? How many should be there? Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.
