I have been using Thunderbird successfully for some time and really like it. Since upgrading to 78.2.0 Thunderbird no longer opens on the folder it was on when closed. This is quite annoying! Can anyone suggest how this can be fixed please? I have tried deleiting session.json and that did not make any difference.

Thank you

Chosen solution

In Options/General, if the box 'When Thunderbird launches...' is unchecked, TB will open in the Inbox of the default account. If the box is checked, it will open in the folder that was open at last exit.

Many thanks for your help - that has sorted it.

This behaviour is still unresolved. I've been round and round the loop too many times to number and it always arrives back at the account settings page . . . .

As an earlier correspondent said, this was broken about four updates ago.

Users want to see their INBOX when TB starts . . . . . NOT the Settings.

Could this please be FIXED, or let me know which previous version of TB will open at the INBOX of my default account?

Thanks

Me too. I've spent hours chasing this.

Simply, I need Thunderbird to open to the list of messages in the Inbox. Every time. Nothing else.

I have this problem as well. Thunder bird keeps opening in the import file on my g-mail account and not in my inbox file even though that's how I closed it. I have tried removing the check mark from the Thunderbird launches...' box. Makes no difference. Is there an update that will fix this bug.

If you have the box checked or unchecked and don't see the expected result, delete or rename the session.json file from the profile folder, with TB closed (Help/Troubleshooting, Profile Folder, Open Folder or Show in Finder).

For many years, on start-up, TB has opened on the Inbox of my default email POP account and downloaded any new messages for it and a second, non-default POP email account. Since release 78, TB now opens on the Trash folder for my non-default account and downloads nothing. I have to manually open both Inbox folders and select "Get Messages" for each of them.

Whatever folder was active when a TB session ends now has no effect on start-up for the next session. TB still goes for the non-default account Trash folder. The checkbox for "When Thunderbird..." mentioned earlier in this thread has no effect either way. Finally, I reviewed all of the system variables in the Config Editor and none appeared to be related to this issue.

What got broke in 78?
