Lost ThunderBird server connection
My internet service failed for a week. When I opened my laptop and attempted to open my thunderbird application, it gave me an error message, “failed to connect to server imap.gmail.com." Can someone help me to get my thunderbird to connect so I can use it again?
Chosen solution
Good. Go to Options > Advanced > Network & Disk Space > Connection > Settings. Select No Proxy and click OK. Next, look at the bottom-left corner of Tbird's main window. You will see the network status indicator icon (two tiny computer monitors). If you hover the mouse pointer above this icon, a tip well appear telling whether you (Tbird) is online or not. Confirm that it says online. Lastly, let's check if Thunderbird is correctly loading webpages. Go to Tools > Add-ons, type ImportExportTools in the search box and press Enter. A page should load showing the results of that search.

I assume you tried a myriad of settings when your internet service went down, and now need to revert them to a working state, correct?
Whatever it takes to get my email service working on my laptop. There was no problem with my desktop, when the internet service was restored so was my email. What do I do to get my email service restored on my laptop?
Does it have internet access? Let's start there. Are you able to browse the web on the laptop? Does Windows detect an active internet connection, assuming it runs Windows?
Good question. Yes, Chrome is fully active!
