Address bar search on startup

more options

When I load Firefox, wanting to perform a search, I will anticipate the location of the address bar, click it on startup and just as I start typing, the home page will load. I'll type my search term and then end up searching for: "my search termhttps://google.co.uk"

See this video as an example. https://youtu.be/rR1vc_FwTkI

More irritating than anything.

Chosen solution

This pointed me in the right direction. I changed the home page to "Firefox Home" which keeps the address bar empty, in fact it even starts with the address bar in focus in search mode.

Perfect!

Maybe set your startup page as a blank page and open the Google search page only when you need it (e.g. set as your homepage, so you can click the toolbar Home button).
You can also press to ESC key to abort loading the Google page.
