more options

I foolishly set the "Retention Policy" of my Inbox to be 90 days. Thunderbird went ahead and deleted all my mails from my actual Gmail server which was more than 90 days old.

Is there any way to get them back ?

I have checked the Trash folder. They are not there.

This option is really dangerous and should be better documented. Thanks.

None that I know of. I'm guessing you've already researched this on Google and couldn't get any real options. Which part of the Retention Policy tab was not clear? It clearly says both local copies and originals on the server.
