How to change tab size in TB?

I have a lot of open tabs in TB, so TB has made each tab very short, so I can only see the first 6 letters of the Subject:-line of each message. That is not very practical! But in Edit -> Preferences I can't seem to find a way to make the tabs longer, in order to see a larger part of the Subject. I have also tried searching for "change tab size" in addons.thunderbird.net to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Chosen solution

TRy the following: Edit > Preferences > Advanced > General tab click on 'Config Editor' button

In top search type: tabs Look for these lines:

  • mail.tabs.tabClipWidth
  • mail.tabs.tabMinWidth

Double click on each line to open a window allowing you to edit the value. Set each one to a value of 200 click on OK close window top right x

Restart Thunderbird.

This should force a wider width on a tab and force the tab scrollbar to operate showing fewer tabs for same width of window, but each tab should display more letters.

Thank you very much! So far I only changed 'tabMinWidth'. That seems to solve the problem.
