Firefox crashed while I was adding captions to another YouTuber's video. This seems to have caused my graphics driver to fail as well. What the heck happened?

So I was adding captions to another YouTuber's video. I felt like being helpful. (Video in question: Playframe's Dark Souls video "Ornstein and Smough") I left the tab open to go to class, but when I came back to resume working on it, the tab locked up so badly my screen went black every time I tried to un-minimize the tab. Eventually, the entire browser crashed -- so badly, that, upon bringing RuneScape up, I was given the alert that my graphics driver had been halted due to an error. I can only assume it was this crash because nothing else of note happened. Luckily, I got the driver updated and everything seems to be good now.

But one question is bugging me: Can a Firefox crash actually cause your graphics driver to straight up fail? Because everything was working fine before this crash.
