I was saving a bunch of images online, and accidentally pressed the 'maximize' button on the save file window. And there's no button to make it smaller.
It's driving me insane. That button shouldn't even be there to begin with, I honestly can't think of why it would be useful.

The following is pretty universal in Windows, so try this:
Press Alt+Spacebar
This should drop a little menu from the upper left corner of the window:
Click Restore to "un-maximize" the window.
Success?

Thanks! It worked. A few notes, though: the popup that appeared oddly didn't have any minimize option (I clicked restore to fix it), and the maximize button is now gone for good. Good riddance, I say.
Good catch on the minimize, the screenshot was from Firefox and not whatever dialog you were using (wasn't sure which one it was, I didn't find one with a maximize button).
