I changed Google password and now Thunderbird will not send or receive emails.
Thunderbird 68.2.0.
I changed the Google password.
My phone recognized the change, asked for the new password which I entered, and everything was fine on the phone.
In contrast, upon entering Thunderbird on a Win 10 laptop I get a series of 3 screens. The first is entitled "One account. All of Google" which permits the entry of the email address. The second sceen allows the entry of the password. And the third screen has 2 buttons - "Allow", and "Deny." I click "Allow" and am returned to the Thunderbird main screen. The mouse pointer is trailed by the question mark, and the "Index" tab has the circling O. If I click on any of the folders, the first of the 3 screens detailed above is display, and the process starts again. No emails are incoming or outgoing.
Please help, James T.

A bug with Google services is fixed in TB 68.2.1, which should be available soon.

thanks alot.
I changed my password in Google for my email account. Now Thunderbird does not let me change it in Thunderbird itself. I'm running version 60.9.0 but when I try to access my account in Thunderbird I get the Google dialog cited above.
In the Saved Passwords that email account no longer exists. How can I change the password in Thunderbird?
Also, get Authentication Failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com.
Using OAUTH authentication.
You need TB 60.9.1 to fix Google's OAuth authentication:
https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/60.9.1/releasenotes/
If you want to stay on the 60 branch, without updating to the 68 branch, download the 60.9.1 installer:

Ok. This added a new account and password to Saved Passwords. Hopefully, now it's ok. However the Google request to login still is happening. Thank you for your nelp. Mel
Did a browser window appear to log into the account and complete the OAuth process? Perhaps post a screenshot of the login request. Make sure cookies are allowed for *.google.com in TB Tools/Options/Privacy.
I have Windows 10 Pro and TB 68.6.0 and I am getting the Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com on one of my Gmail accounts in TB, the other account works just fine.
I did change my Gmail password yesterday and I knew I would have to change it in TB when I logged in but when the authentication failure window pops up that is as far as it goes. TB doesn't ask for a new password.
Just for the record, I have read so many of the different posts about this problem that I am cross eyed. I have made sure I am using 0auth2 verification and even turned on the allow less secure apps in Gmail. In short, I have done everything I know to do and everything any of the posts here have suggested and I still have the problem.
I am fairly confident the problem would go away if I could change my password in TB but I can't get there unless there is a way I am not aware of.
I did not mean for this to turn into a novel but any help/advice will be appreciated very much.
Thanks, Clyde

Delete the old passwords or oauth:// tokens in Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, restart TB, and enter the new password in the OAuth window when prompted.
Thanks for the info. I did exactly as you said and now I am getting the error message for both of the Gmail accounts accessed through TB
Got anymore ideas? I am grasping at straws because I do not want to have to delete the accounts and start over from scratch.

The settings for the IMAP server should be imap.gmail.com on 993, SSL/TLS, OAuth2 authentication, User Name = email address. For the outgoing, smtp.gmail.com on 465, OAuth2 authentication, User Name = email address. Cookies must be allowed in TB Tools/Options/Privacy. Disable antivirus scanning of the TB profile folder and scanning of secure connections; depending on the AV, this could be the reason you can't connect. Confirm the passwords are working by logging into gmail.com. Remove the entries in Saved Passwords again, restart TB, and try again.
I went back over all the steps you mentioned before right after I posted my last message. I discovered there were 3 items saved for each Gmail account. I deleted the 4 that were left and restarted TB and after going through the Gmail required steps to allow TB access everything is working as it should once again.
I am going to save your instructions in my Windows Fixes notebook for future reference.
Thanks again for all your help, Clyde
