Check your antivirus

Open Avast from and choose Settings in the bottom left corner. Choose Components > Web Shield. Now click Customize button. Uncheck Enable HTTPS Scanning option and save changes.

Disable problematic add-ons

Open Firefox and click the Menu button in top right corner. Choose Add-ons from the list. Click the Extensions tab on the left. List of installed extensions should open. Now disable all extensions by clicking the Disable button. Restart Firefox and check if the issue is resolved. If the problem is fixed, you can try enabling extensions one by one until you find the one that is causing you problems.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode

Locate the Firefox shortcut on your desktop, hold the Shift key and double-click it. When the dialog box appears, click Start in Safe Mode button.

Reinstall Firefox

Clear your cache

Hi neilbowls, I remember seeing a similar issue earlier with the same graphics, Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family, and especially driver version 8, which you have. Apparently, folks have not been able to update their driver from version 8 without first uninstalling their current version. Some have reported having to completely remove all of their Intel drivers to be able to get their graphics working properly.

I thought that you might want to check into this. I hope it helps.

Hi again, A quick check with Intel says that support for your graphics is Discontinued. I recommend being very cautious where you might get an updated driver. With that much said, I still have the note from the post which I referenced. You might want to check the link at the end to see if you can update your driver.

In Windows 7: 1. Open the “Run” dialog box by pressing and holding the Windows key and the R key. 2. Type (or copy and paste) the command devmgmt.msc 3. In the Device Manager window click the arrow next to Display Adapters. 4. Right-click on Intel(R) HD Graphics #### and select Properties. 5. In the Properties window, near the top, select the Driver tab. 6. At the bottom select Uninstall. 7. On the un-install window, select Delete the driver software for this device. 8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted. Return to the link below to download drivers for Intel. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

You can always check with your laptop manufacturer for drivers.
