can't send emails
I have recently switched to bt for my broadband and even though I can receive emails I cannot send them using thunderbird, see screen shot of setting for the outgoing server but says they require authentication , can anyone help?
Chosen solution
I use bt. I have a bt email address and it uses exactly the same server settings as you show with the exception that username is full bt email address.
I also have another email address, as I have website. But I also use the bt server to send emails for that different email address, but because it uses the bt smtp default, it will be using the bt email address as username.
Bt account via webmail is set up to allow the sending of hosting website email address via smtp of bt account.
so put your full bt internet email address in the 'user name'.

re : but says they require authentication
The info you show in the images does not have correct 'Username'. The 'Username' needs to be the full email address.
Thanks for the reply But have tried putting my full username in and still cannot send emails any other suggestions would be very welcome, I wonder if any one else has had problems sending emails through BT isp? BT so far have been any help have used the outgoing setting they suggested
