How do I get emails to pop out into new windows without having to open them first?
I get that once you've opened a message by double clicking it you can go into the options on the right where you can select open in new window, but how do I do that from the homepage inbox like you can with the old Mail Live & EM Client? I keep forgetting, closing down an email and it closes the entire Thunderbird down, it's so annoying!!

It's okay, found it!
It's in Tools/options/display/advanced. You change the middle selection.
Thanks

hello there, blackspaven you wonder if the same option is also present in thunderbird?
I will see for you if anything of this is present for you.

Change double click to single click To effect this change, You will have to change a setting in your Folder Options (Windows 8/7) – now called File Explorer Options in Windows 10.
To do this, type ‘Folder‘ in Start Search and click on Folder Options or File Explorer Options.
Here under the General tab, you will see Click items as follows.
Select Single-click to open an item (point to select).
You may also want to select the Underline icon tiles only when I point at them option.
Click Apply > OK > Exit.
If you do this you need to click only once on an icon, with your Mouse pointer to open a file.

( this is for your opratingsystem)
I search again in thunderbird. A minute please...
Hello there again blackspaven.
From the Menu Bar select Tools-Options-Display-Advanced
From the AppMenu button hover over Options and select Options-Display-Advanced
Select Open messages in a New Window
It takes a double click to open a message in a tab or window. If you have the Messages Pane turned on a single click will display the message there. F8 toggles the Message Pane on and off.

Nothing to do with Firefox, I asked for help with emails on the Thunderbird app. Changing that option you suggested won't and indeed doesn't make an email open in a new window on Thunderbird, it just affects stuff elsewhere on the computer.
Hello there blackspaven.

can you possibly be more specific about the subject?
we only have information about an inbox that contains emails if the inbox is checked, the emails are immediately ready in new windows without being treated?
This could be in other programs such as the well-known email programs live mail?
Greetings Firefox volunteer.
it sounds more like an outdated option of a mailbox program.
I will look again for you in Thunderbird.
greetings Thunderbird volunteer.
I think I see the subject yes.
here you probably have an add-on, it's a good thing it's a bit complicated but maybe it works on the questions I can imagine that are discussed here. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/quickfolders-tabbed-folders/ Greetings Firefox volunteer

Nope, as far as I can make out, none of those make an email open in a new window. Don't need things doing with folders thanks.

Yes, how Live Mail did it. I don't want a row of new windows attached to the email client along the top, I want separate email windows which I can move around independently so I can see them all at the same time on the screen. Yes, there's a long winded way fo doing it on Thunderbird, but Live Mail and EM Client just open the email in a completely independent window... even to the extent that if you shut down the email app, the opened emails themselves live independently until you close them down too. Hovering over the icon at the bottom of the screen shows them all in a line to choose from too.
