here is what it looks like and it just started a couple days ago for no apparent reason:

Doug,?? The weather in Auburn is really nice lately....... your timing should be good to get back to the foothills.?? Attached are a couple schematics of the two rooms involved.?? One is the existing, showing sizes and the existing Mbath configuration.???? The second is Michael's sketch of what we came up with for the Mbath remodel.?? Here are some notes and a few questions for the two rooms to get things started.

On a Mac, look in Preferences/Advanced/General/Config. editor, or click the TB menu icon at the upper right (3 bars), Options/Options. Double-click the preference mail.strictly_mime to toggle its value to true, OK to close Options.

I have a MacBook Pro and can't find where to change the preferences you refer to for Windows. I have send and receive set at unicode. Thunderbird and Mac are up to date. Every space entered after the first one adds two more question marks.

Hi lorisexton, Windows and Mac have a different name, Options vs. Preferences. So in Thunderbird on Windows, tap the Alt key (or F10) to show the Thunderbird menu bar. Then on the Tools menu, click Options. From there, try the steps in the earlier reply:

I suddenly have the same problem with the double or triple question marks (have no idea why this happened). I am using a PC with Windows 10 and do not understand unfortunately the help that has been offered to correct this problem. I have looked in 'Options', and then 'Advanced' but cannot find the rest to solve the problem I am having. Thank you for any and all help.

Hi Carol101, can you find a button labeled Config Editor? That's what you need to access to make the change mentioned in this and related threads.

See: Config Editor

Then based on the above, once you get into the editor:

  • Type or paste mime in the search bar to filter the list.
  • Double-click the mail.strictly_mime preference to switch its value from false to true
  • Click OK to close Options

For TB on a Windows PC, open Tools/Options/Advanced, on the General tab click the Config. editor button; or click the TB menu icon at the upper right (3 bars), Options/Options.... Press Alt key if the Tools menu is hidden. In Config. editor, double-click the preference mail.strictly_mime to toggle its value to true, then OK to close Options.
