Where to download thunderbird 52?
Where can I download 52.9.1?

Warning: Installing a previous version doesn't fix most problems
Problems with an update are generally not caused by the new version of Thunderbird, but rather the update process. Installing a previous version will not help in most cases. The best option is to start a new thread about your issues, where others can suggest specific solutions.
Using old versions of Thunderbird also poses a significant security risk.

Why would you want to download an unsupported and vulnerable version?
You'd be surprised - because I can minimize it to notification area and continue working on my stuff without is hanging in the task bar. And speaking about vulnerable - you've got 12 releases of 60 - how many of those contain vulnerability patches? I'd bet the next version of 60 contains vulnerability patches too, meaning the current version is vulnerable - prove me wrong. Or let's just wait for the next version and see
I can minimize it to notification area
I suppose you're using an extension for this, which stopped working in a later version? If so, you should contact the extension author.
I can ... continue working on my stuff without is hanging in the task bar.
I'm not sure how a task bar icon is preventing you from 'working on your stuff'.

I guess so. The point is, known vulnerabilities in older versions are being actively exploited. The likelihood of new (and currently unknown) vulnerabilities being exploited is low.

I guess they just gave up fighting mozilla and don't work on this anymore. Can't blame them

Well, a mail client is not the most important application (as you may want to think ) - I'm not getting emails every minute. And it should sit on the background only showing notifications if an email is there. If not in the notification area - even simple Ctrl + Tab will pick mail client up and that's annoying.
Anyway, cut to the chase - is there a way to get the older version?

The modified FireTray add-on works in TB 60, if you should decide to use that version.
Indeed, there are other addons to provide the function making downgrade unnecessary.
