Suddenly I have to double click a mail message in my In Box so that it opens. How do I set it to open with just one click on it? Thank you.

Chosen solution

The 'Menu icon' has 3 horizontal lines and is located on the 'Mail Toolbar'. In the image below, I've moved mine over to the far left as it seemed more logical. Hover over 'Options' to see drop down context menu and 'Layout' is at the bottom of the list.

But the F8 key should toggle the view on or off as required.

A single left click will open the email and display it in the 'Message Pane'. However, if you do not have the 'Message Pane' enabled then it cannot open.

Make sure the 'Message Pane' is enabled. Menu icon > 'Options' > 'Layout' > select 'Message Pane' OR toggle the view using F8 key

Thank you for your reply but I cannot find the "Layout" in the "Options." I just got this new computer and thankfully, my mail is all set up and there but I have this problem and it seems that my Address Book and its listings are gone. Thank you for your anticipated help.
