Suddenly this morning (21Mar2019), I am unable to send email using Thunderbird. Normal Gmail appears to function fine. I have exhausted the typical suspects (firewall, antivirus, etc.). I don't understand how this can be functioning perfectly fine for weeks/months/years, and then suddenly cease to function. Any thoughts on this matter are greatly appreciated.

Chosen solution

Changed 'Connection Security' to 'SSL/TLS' and 'Port' to '465'. Thunderbird appears to be working with these settings. Wierd!

Try to set the 'Authentication method' for the outgoing server to 'OAuth2'.

There may be changes on the server side, and then you'll need to adjust your settings to cope with those changes.

Thanks christ1. Setting 'Authentication method' to 'OAuth2' did not resolve. Same error persists. SMTP server times out. See attached error message.
