The calendar in Thunderbird is called Lightning. It is an add on. This add on is Included with the new versions of Thunderbird but it is still an add on.

Go to the add on tab of Thunderbird and click Extensions. Is Lightning listed but disabled? Enable it. If not listed at all enter lightning into the search box and install it
