giant checkmark - missing font?

I'm seeing a huge checkmark in the Subject of one email in the message list view. (see attached screenshot) I've had a similar problem in the past which was solved by adding EmojiOneMozilla.ttf to /usr/lib/thunderbird/fonts. I suspect that I need another font - does anybody know which one and where I can get it?
