Firefox did an "automatic check" (?) when I went to a website https://www.veteranstoday.com/?reqp=1&reqr

Instead of going directly to the website https://www.veteranstoday.com/?reqp=1&reqr, Firefox said it was doing an "automatic check" and then went to the page. I don't know why. There are no other websites it does this for. How can I find out what this automatic check means?

Is it this thing in the attached screenshot? It mentions that Cloudflare is applying some kind of DDOS protection. In other words, the site has hired a service to prevent "denial of service" attacks that can be caused by sending tons of requests at the same time. I wouldn't take it personally!

Yes, that is it. Thank you for your reply and putting a stop to my head scratching. Ha Ha. Appreciate your response. So should I expect more of these messages?

I've seen it once or twice before. I think sites use it temporarily during a period of crisis rather than 24x7, so I certainly would expect to see it often.

Got it. Thanks so much for your help!
