I'm running Firefox Quantum 64 bit on my Windows 7 system. Earlier today I had to to remove the annoying goawesome5 virus and then start Firefox fresh. It started fresh alright, all my settings were gone, so I had to manually edit Firefox to my liking again.

I thought I was done, but I keep getting that annoying Youtube message that it's using the full screen now, hovers around for a few seconds, then disappears. I've look for solutions on the boards, but couldn't find any. I tried to fix it in about:config, like here: http://puu.sh/CrEeT.png, but nothing seems to work.

Can anyone help?

Hello Moredhel,

I never get that "YouTube now uses full screen" message, and the only preference I have modified on the "about:config" page is :

full-screen-api.warning.timeout = 0 (zero)

Your screenshot shows that you have the value of that pref set to "3000" ......

Hello Moredhel,

Hi Moredhel, the preferences for the notification have the word "warning" in the name. You changed one of them, but you really want to change the other one:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste full-s and pause while the list is filtered

The ones you want are usually at the bottom:

(3) Double-click the full-screen-api.warning.timeout preference to display a dialog where you can enter the desired time, for example:

  • 3000 (default) - warning displays for 3 seconds
  • 250 - warning appears for a quarter of a second (I like this quick notification just in case I didn't trigger full screen myself I know what's going on)
  • 0 - warning is suppressed

(4) If you didn't change to 0 in step 3, double-click the full-screen-api.warning.delay preference and edit the value to 0 to start with warning immediately instead of delaying it. This will get it over with quicker.

Thanks guys, that solved my problem!
