Default email account used when sending
When I click on Write, the outgoing email address defaults to one I rarely use. I went into the SMTP settings and set another email address as the default. Then I closed and opened TB, but it isn't working. When I click on Write, I am still having to manually select the right outgoing email address. The problem is that sometimes I forget, and I end up sending mail from the email address I rarely use. Can this be fixed? I have Windows 7 and the latest version of TB.

Thank you.
If all I want to do is for all my outgoing emails to default to letters@xyz.com (as the sending email address), which of those add-ons will do that for me?
Thank you again, but I can't figure out how to install it from the page for the beta version. Do you mind telling me what steps to take?
Thank you so much, but after following your directions carefully (twice), TB told me the extension was corrupt.
I fixed it by leaving it as a zip file, and then unzipping it to a subdirectory, and then installing it from there. A zip file would, of course, be in the zip format; changing the extension wouldn't change that. Thank you.

I have now tried the extension and it seems to be working. Thank you for all your help. I am very grateful.
I am guessing that you are a volunteer. How do I convey to the developers that this feature should be part of the program itself? One "personality" (as Eudora used to call them) should be designated as the "main" personality, and all new outgoing emails should default to that personality.

By the way, is it possible for me to change the order of the accounts in Account Settings? My accounts aren't grouped logically. Thank you!
Thank you again.
I don't know what this means: "it is normal to have the sending address match the account which is currently selected". How does one select an account?
Thank you for your answer.
The folders in the left pane represent mailboxes. I have not associated any mailboxes with any of my email addresses. How does the program make such associations if I am not making it? Usually what is displayed is the Inbox. If I haven't done anything to associate the Inbox with any email address, why is the program doing that for me? That makes no sense.
"All" is selected, and I am seeing only the folders that I created (except the six standard folders that everyone has). All my folders (except the top six) were created by right-clicking on Local Folders. If there is another way to create folders, I'm not aware of it.
Thank you for helping me to understand Thunderbird, although obviously there is more that I need to learn.
My original problem was fixed, thanks to your help.
