remove malicious bookmark from sync
Problem: clicked a link in an email, loaded a webpage which can't be closed - as it just re-opens, and I'm prevented from accessing preferences (by the page reloading in rapid succession) to untick the 'restore previous session' box, hence after restarting FF the malicious page keeps popping up.
Eventually in the profile folder found & renamed the three 'sessionstore-backups' files then disabled sync on the other computers to prevent the bookmark spreading.
NEEDED : a way to delete the sessionstore-backups in Sync on the default FF server.
Preferably in a format which a humble computer user can follow : that's someone who doesn't have much knowledge beyond what is picked up in daily use.

If it's like the fake FBI/Interpol browser lock page, A way out of a trap page is to (force it if needed) Close Firefox. Wait about 20 seconds for Firefox to finish closing. Right-click on the Firefox icon and select Open New Window. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sometimes this works. If it opens, close it by Menu > File > Exit. This will flush out that web page from the Session Store.
Thank you for the reply. Different malicious page though, and different problem. Had already sorted the 'contaminated' browser tab by deleting the sessionstore files. Next task is to clear the presumably still open malicious tab on the Mozilla Firefox sync server, which will ensure the malicious page doesn't get added back in when FF on other machines synchronises. It would in that respect be helpful if one could log into My Mozilla Firefox Account from say Edge or Safari - or any other browser which won't sync - and manually delete the offending bookmark. There's no obvious way to do so on the sync page, nor do I spot a relevant entry on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/firefox/sync.
