Ever since the upgrade, I can receive but cannot send messages. I use Kaspersky for security.

What prevents you from sending messages?

The message that I received when trying to send mail is "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to the Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.twc.com timed out. Try again."

I receive messages without any problems.

This only started after the last update from Thunderbird.

Thank you for your assistance.

You'll need to check with your email provider about the correct server settings. Presumably there is a support web site providing that information. Please post those settings here, or alternatively, just provide a link.

Also, please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information. Press the "Copy text to clipboard button" and paste the information into your reply.

I spent significant time with my email provider who reset and reset my server settings for the Outgoing, which is my problem. None of their efforts were successful in allowing me to send my email through Thunderbird. This only started after the last update from Mozilla.

The problem is obviously with the Thunderbird program as I can send emails through my email server but preferred to use the Thunderbird program.

If I cannot get the Thunderbird program to allow me to send, I will have no choice but to delete the program and go with another server.

In addition, it is not good that there is no direct support system in place for this program and they only rely on contributors.

Thunderbird is a free program offering free support and it relies on donations to help pay for important issues. Those who help are based all around the world so helping to cover various timezones. There is no office with switchboard filled with people waiting for support issues as Thunderbird does not charge for the product.

Please post the information as requested so we can understand your current setup.

Thank you for the reply, Toad-Hall and I totally understand the concept of the free program. But someone is out there making modifications and revisions to the free program. And all of my problems with the sending of email started after the latest revision of Thunderbird.

I receive emails without a problem through the Thunderbird program however whenever I try to send, I receive the message "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to the Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.twc.com timed out. Try again."

I have made multiple attempts through Spectrum (twc) to reset the outgoing mail settings to no avail. I still receive the same message through the Thunderbird system.

I can successfully send email through the twc site but I do prefer to use the Thunderbird site.

Thank you for your help

Hi It does not matter what twc advisers tried as we did not see what they did. They could have been right or wrong. It is impossible to guess what is going on, we could be doing it all night :) So let's start with understanding the current situation and work forward.

Please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information. Press the "Copy text to clipboard button" and paste the information into the 'Post a Reply' text box in this forum question.

Thank you for the assistance....I do have one concern however...using the recommendation "Connection security = None, authentication = password, transmitted insecurely " does this mean that I have no connection security and my password is being transmitted insecurely???

The posting stopped, so presumably you have this working.

It would be helpful if you marked which suggestion worked for you.
