Hello,

My company recently changed from Outlook to Thunderbird, and we use IMAP settings from a google server - however we are receiving 2 problems, one severe and one less so.

Firstly, we keep getting an alert that 'Server mail.*******.com has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem' - now the issue is that this is the old email server that we had on our account, but now use imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com. Strangely, it occasionally seems that that Thunderbird is reverting back to these settings despite me checking the incoming and outgoing server settings, and having never used mail.**********.com when setting them up. I asked whether anything had happened to prompt this, and I was told that Outlook was accidentally opened on this pc and loaded our outlook data file - I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it? Also, we have 3 computers in the same office all using this thunderbird account and settings for the same email.

Secondly, we have been having issues with the speed of opening and sending emails, although I understand that because we're using IMAP things like sending emails takes time as it's saving to the server, but sometimes we get a brand new (small) email in whose contents will not load for a substantial while, any help with this is appreciated.

Many thanks!

Outlook has been known to work in the background even when you think you are not using it anymore. You would need to remove the accounts from Outlook to be sure of stopping it.

Scanning of incoming/outgoing mail by an Anti-Virus will cause some delays.

Or programs updating in the background, like the OS or Adobe etc.
